Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is the therapeutic use of water in various forms (hot, cold, steam, or ice) to promote physical and mental well-being. It harnesses water’s natural properties—temperature, pressure, and buoyancy—to relieve pain, improve circulation, and support recovery.

A comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis titled "Effects of cold-water immersion on health and wellbeing" was published in PLOS ONE in January 2025 examined the health and well-being effects of cold-water immersion (CWI) across 11 studies involving 3,177 participants.

Key Findings:
-
Stress Reduction: CWI was associated with a significant decrease in stress levels 12 hours post-immersion.

-
Improved Sleep Quality: Participants reported enhancements in sleep quality following regular CWI sessions.

-
Enhanced Quality of Life: Regular CWI practices were linked to improvements in participants' overall quality of life.

-
Reduced Sickness Absence: Individuals incorporating cold showers into their routine experienced a 29% reduction in sickness absence.
Regular use of saunas, hot pools, and steam baths offers numerous health benefits, as evidenced by large-scale studies:

-
Reduced Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases: Frequent sauna bathing is associated with a decreased risk of fatal cardiovascular events.

-
Lowered Blood Pressure: Regular sauna sessions can help reduce blood pressure, contributing to better heart health.

-
Improved Vascular Function: Heat exposure from saunas enhances blood vessel function, promoting better circulation.

-
Stress Reduction and Mental Well-being: Regular sauna use is linked to decreased stress levels and improved mental health.

-
Enhanced Immune Function: Sauna bathing may boost the immune system, leading to a reduced incidence of common colds.
